Anderlecht started the Champions League with a 1-1 draw against Galatasaray. Anderlecht deserved the victory after creating a handful of excellent chances. The home team only equalised after 92 minutes...

Anderlecht played the perfect first half. Galatasaray had no control over the midfield where Anderlecht easily moved the ball around. Conté had the first great chance, but missed the target. Not much later, Mitrovic created an opening between three players, but his shot was not powerful enough. Also Deschacht could not score when the ball fell in his feet in the box. Muslero stopped his effort. The Turkish champions on the other hand had no real chances. Only a free kick created some danger.

The second half started with power-play of Galatasaray, but Anderlecht scored the opening goal. An brilliant action resulted in a perfectly placed ball of Praet: 0-1. Galatasaray shifted to a higher gear but could not really endanger Anderlecht's lead. Mitrovic should even have made the 0-2, but he missed being all alone in front of the keeper. From then on, the Mauves focussed on defending the lead. Mitrovic went off for Kljestan, to try and grap control over the midfield again. But Anderlecht slowly got tired and in the 92nd minute Galatasaray managed to equalise.
