OTHER Union initially wanted €1 million in compensation for the departure of Felice Mazzu. Anderlecht was prepared to give 250,000 euros. Perhaps the final amount will strand at a maximum of.... 60,000 euros.
The departure of Mazzu to Anderlecht fell heavily on Union. The vice-champion came out with heavy language and demanded a compensation of more than 1 million euros. It thought it was entitled to this because of the clauses in his contract.
Anderlecht saw it differently and proposed a compensation of 250,000 euros. More than fair enough, according to Anderlecht. But given the attitude of Union, Anderlecht doesn't want to go that far anymore.
Union wants to put Anderlecht and Mazzu under pressure by threatening to go to court. But in front of the court, the clauses in question are worthless. According to labor law, Mazzu must perform a six-week notice period after submitting his resignation. Two of these he has performed. So he will have to pay out the remaining four. That amounts to 60,000 euros. "No labor court will rule differently on that," states Het Laatste Nieuws.
