TRANSFERS At Tuesday's Fanboard, Jesper Fredberg also explained the upcoming capital increase and Purple White's ambitions in the transfer market. "Because we managed to make savings in the winter, we can be more decisive this summer," he said.

During the Fanboard, those present on behalf of Anderlecht, including CEO Non-Sports Kenneth Bornauw in addition to Fredberg, stated that a new capital increase is indeed coming. The report from Humo some two weeks ago that it would be the last tranche of a previous capital increase was denied.

"The shareholders are now in talks about an additional capital injection with the aim of being more decisive in the transfer market," it echoed at the Fanboard.

"No seven basic players, but right positions"

Last Saturday, Het Nieuwsblad wrote that Anderlecht would attract seven new basic players this summer. Fredberg denied that. He did, however, indicate that the club wants to be assertive in the transfer market. "We want to get players with impact and efficiency. It's mainly about the right positions as well as getting value for money," the Sports CEO said. "We want to strengthen the core sensitively."

Fredberg stressed again that Anderlecht should not sell to strengthen. Because the club kept a reasonably low profile on the transfer market in January and parted with some heavy contracts, the necessary financial resources are available.

Fredberg of course does realize that if a player can make a very nice transfer, Anderlecht might have to change tack. "We will sell though if we can do so at the right price. Sometimes you have to sell someone, even if it is a top player, to collectively strengthen the core."

"Shaping team by season's start"

It is a trend to make many transfers in the final days, and even the very last night, of the transfer period. Fredberg hopes to have the necessary work behind him much earlier. "Because our season ended early and the foreign leagues were still running, it is difficult to sign players now," he told us. "But we want to shape the team as much as possible already by the start of the new season and so not wait for the end of the mercato. That is the ambition."
