Both Debast and Verbruggen play a draw at EC

GAMES At the U21 European Championships, both Zeno Debast with Belgium and Bart Verbruggen with the Netherlands drew on Saturday night. The Netherlands did so against Portugal. After the game, Verbruggen fraternised with Fabio Silva, his teammate at Anderlecht during the first half of last season. 


Debast appeared to be heading for an easy win with Belgium against hosts Georgia. At the break, Belgium led 0-2. Shortly after the break, the tying goal came out of the blue and in the closing stages Georgia actually equalised. Debast was no longer on the pitch by then. In the 7th minute, he was replaced by Ameen Al-Dakhil.

In the other match in the same group, the Netherlands played a 1-1 draw against Portugal. Orange went behind after 20 minutes, but Ajax striker Brobbey equalised in the 78th minute. Verbruggen played the whole match. For Portugal, Fabio Silva was substituted after 56 minutes. After the match, Verbruggen and Silva sought each other out. That resulted in a nice picture that Verbruggen shared on his Intagram.
