TRANSFERS Anderlecht has a three-year contract ready for Mats Rits. That writes The Latest News. Zipper will end his contract with Club Brugge at the end of this season. After five years he is no longer regarded as a basic player and Club is waiting to possibly extend his contract.

Although Club Brugge would like to keep Rits, he was informed at the start of the season that Club would only consider a possible contract extension after the transfer period. Club first wants to see what the mercato brings. The new coach Ronny Delia indicated in a conversation with Rits that it no longer sees the resident of Sint-Katelijne-Waver as a base player. As 12th or 13th man, Rits will probably make the necessary minutes.

Still, the situation is uncertain. Will he play a lot? And what about his expiring contract? Then Anderlecht can offer him much better perspectives. At Anderlecht, Rits will have to duel with Amadou Diawara for a basic place as a defensive midfielder. A battle that the 30-year-old Rits can safely win, especially if Diawara would look for other places. Moreover, Anderlecht offers him a contract for three seasons. So both sportingly and contractually, Purple & White offers much more certainty. Not to mention the much shorter commutes the young father would have to make every day.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the Rits camp is somewhat disappointed about the above-mentioned situation at Club Brugge. At Anderlecht, on the other hand, Rits could become a leading figure. If Rits and Anderlecht find each other, the Purple & White must also come to an agreement with Club Brugge. The question is which one they want to contribute to strengthening their historical competitor.
