Lonwijk: "Best on the eight or the ten"

INTERVIEWS Justin Lonwijk made his debut for Anderlecht against Antwerp. The Dutchman seemed soon on his way to a goal. He rounded goalkeeper Jean Butez, but the follow-up was less so. "I am happy to be with Anderlecht," he told afterwards. "I didn't hesitate for long about this."


Speaking to Het Nieuwsblad after the match, Lonwijk said it was no surprise for him to be allowed to fill in. "I was not yet ready to start today, but that will come," said the Dutchman.

According to Lonwijk, he does best at the eight and ten position. "Then I can show my attacking qualities," he said. Lonwijk thinks of himself that technically he does not do unkindly and he also likes to get into the opponent's penalty area to create danger."

Anderlecht is renting Lonwijk for one season from Dinamo Kiev with an option to buy. "Last year was difficult," he refers to the war situation in Ukraine. "I'm happy to be here and be able to focus solely on football again."
