INTERVIEWS At the press conference leading up to tomorrow's game against Club Brugge, Jesper Fredberg immediately received questions about the goalkeeper issue. "Competition is good, because that pushes our goalkeepers forward," he replied. "Sooner or later we will make a choice."

Riemer said there is currently too much focus on the position of goalkeepers. "An international like Diawara has played at Roma and Napoli. About him I get few questions when he doesn't play. About the goalkeepers a lot more," it sounded.

According to Riemer, the staff will decide match by match which goalkeeper to use. He points out that Schmeichel and Dupé are different types. "We know that Kasper has a solid out kick and that Maxime is very calm. We choose tactically and in terms of their performance which goalkeeper we think is suitable for a particular game and for our team."

Earlier this week, transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri wrote that Dupé had been guaranteed to be first goalkeeper upon his arrival. Surely Riemer wanted to contradict that. "If that would really be the case, then stop as a coach. If you make that decision in advance, then there is no more competition. That applies to all players and all positions."

"Nobody was given guarantees about playing minutes here, I can assure you. Jesper Fredberg tells players, brokers and me loud and clear that no promises are made to anyone regarding playing time. I couldn't be clearer," Riemer said.
