INTERVIEWS On his birthday Kasper Schmeichel conquered his first clean sheet in the Anderlecht shirt. The Danish goalkeeper was very happy after the game against Cercle Brugge, although he didn't think the clean sheat was that important. "That's just a statistic. The only thing that matters is the victory."
"This victory gives a lot of satisfaction," Schmeichel told DAZN's microphone after the match. "We learned our lesson after the game against Standard. Then too we came out of the locker room 0-2, but then we didn't fight like we should have. Today we showed our qualities when we had to."
Schmeichel saw how Cercle also got some chances, but in his sixth match for Anderlecht he kept the zero for the first time. Something that makes him happy? "A clean sheet is just a statistic. It doesn't tell the story of a match. Yesterday Manchester City was dominant against Bournemouth, but didn't keep the zero either. Doesn't matter. The win is all that matters."
