The Mauves took the three points in Ghent yesterday after a convincing 1-4 victory. The home-side, troubled by injuries, was never able to threaten Anderlecht. The pressure is now on Bruges that need a win in Standard.

Jacobs finally took action after the bad performances in the play-offs until now. Jordan Lukaku remained in the team, Kabangu replaced the suspended Gillet and Jovanovic was replaced by Kanu. Though AA Gent took the best start and already hit the post after just two minutes of play. Anderlecht quickly restored the balance and went looking for the opening goal themselves: Kabangu centered but Mbokani, left alone, missed the target with his header.

After 30 minutes, Anderlecht took the deserved lead. Mbokani sent Kabangu deep and the Congolese scored: 0-1. Just five minutes later, Suarez appeared around the box and beat goalkeeper Padt with a nice shot: 0-2. Close before half time, Mbokani's header was stopped by the upright.

Ghent couldn't react, also because their two central defenders were already substituted due to injuries. Trainer Sollied was left with just one more replacement. Though they tried to turn the tide anyway in the beginning of the second half. Ljubijankic showed up in front of Proto and dove over Proto's leg, trying to claim a penalty. In that same action, Kouyate saved the ball twice on the line.

Anderlecht lost control over the match, but never came into serious trouble though. When Kanu scored the 0-3, with a header, on a counter attack, the game was over. Hopes in the stadium revived when the Bufallos got a penalty after Wasilewski had hit the ball with his arm in the box. Mboyo scored despite Proto touching the ball. Anderlecht quickly took command again and in the last minute Kabangu opened for Jovanovic, who had replaced Suarez. He crossed to Mbokani: 1-4.
