Anderlecht put Germinal Beerschot aside with two second-half goals. It meant the 7th consecutive victory for the home-team. Through this win Anderlecht remain in second place and creep two points closer to leaders Standard.

It took Anderlecht an hour to break the visiting defense. At the hour mark Vlcek put the home-team 1-0 ahead. Merely five minutes later Frutos knocked in a rebound to secure the three points.

The home crowd saw a poor first half. Anderlecht created only a few chances but twice Vlcek was ruled off-side. It was the visitors who came closest to scoring the opening goal. Dosunmu was sent deep by Malki, an attentive Schollen was needed to block his shot.

Two surprises at the start. Pieroni was given preference over the slightly injured Frutos, while Goor replaced Van Damme at left-back. Pieroni failed to make much of an impact and it was no surprise Frutos came in early on in the second half.

The presence of the Argentinian striker invigorated the home-team. Goor sent the ball deep, Beerschot defender Van Dooren extended the ball with a header only to give Vlcek the opportunity to slide the ball past Beerschot-goalie Steppe.

The advantage gave the home-team a boost and they eagerly went looking for more. Deschacht put Boussoufa through the visitor's defense. The Moroccon aimed his shot on Steppe, but Frutos was there to put the rebound into the netting.

Anderlecht were in control of the game from then on and cruised toward their 7th consecutive victory. Germinal Beerschot will have a chance for revenge in Wednesday's Belgian Cup game.
