TRANSFERS Mario Stroeykens did not travel to Greece for the Europa League clash with PAOK. The 21-year-old midfielder is nursing a minor injury and is being left out as a precaution. His absence, however, changes little about his current situation, as he also appears unlikely to play a prominent role on sporting grounds for the time being. The Neerpede player had hoped to seal a transfer this summer and begin pre-season with a new club.

TRANSFERS It looks as though Yari Verschaeren is set to follow in Dennis Praet's footsteps. According to Sacha Tavolieri, the midfielder, who is now a free agent after his contract with Anderlecht expired in June, has decided to continue his career at Sampdoria. Sampdoria finished 13th in Serie B last season. At the former Italian powerhouse, Jesper Fredberg has been working as sporting director since July last year.

GAMES Anderlecht edged past La Louvière 2-1 at the death. Bertaccini struck in stoppage time to send the purple and white to victory after they had fallen behind early in the second half. Nga Kana levelled the score against 10 men, but it took until the very last moment for the Lotto Park to truly erupt. It was a deserved, but extremely hard-fought win for Anderlecht.
