That was general manager Herman Van Holsbeeck's claim: "Standard's young midfield played incredibly well, and their title is more than deserved...[but in Anderlecht] we have higher goals. We keep investing in our youth"
"The proof there: three years ago we played in the Champions League with as a backline: Vanden Borre, Kompany, Traoré and Deschacht, all boys that were Anderlecht trained. By loaning out youngsters as Lamah and Tioté for a while, and have other talents mature at Union, we are trying to prepare them as well as possible. That's necessary, because if we give our youngsters a chance and we lose, we are immediately criticized that Anderlecht has to aim higher. So it's an eternal search for the balance between chances for those young talents and results."
