Anderlecht beat Standard: 4-2

Tonight, Anderlecht defeated Standard de Liège, the final score being 4-2 after a spectacular match. Despite the fact Standard lead the game twice, the Mauves still managed to win. They are now 4 points ahead in the standings.


Standard took the best start with Jovanovic dribbling through the Anderlecht defense but keeper Schollen saved. A bit later, Juhasz made a mistake and Dalmat managed to steal the ball and score.

Slowly, Anderlecht took control over the game. Legear missed an open chance, but the pressure on the Standard defense kept on increasing. A few minutes before the break, Boussoufa equalised with a magnificant free kick.

In the second half, the home side immediately pushed forward, supported by the fans. They collected several corner kicks and created a few chances, but it was the visitors that scored again. On a swift counter attack, ex-Anderlecht player Mbokani placed the ball in the goal.

Anderlecht didn't seem to be impressed and kept on creating chances. Legear dribbled past two defenders and centered for Boussoufa, whose effort in one time disappeared in the lower left corner: 2-2.

A few minutes later, the home side took the lead. Gillet was tackled from behind when he was about to score on a rebound and Wasilewski converted the penalty: 3-2. And still it wasn't over yet with De Sutter scoring; 4-2 and the three points became more secure. From then on, Anderlecht defended well and so the score line didn't change anymore.
