Anderlecht took an excellent start in the Europa League by beating Zagreb 0-2. Though the scoreline did not reflect the game completely, Ajax vs. Timisoara ended on a scoreless draw, meaning Anderlecht takes the lead in group A.

The game took a weak start, with the home side dominating the ball, but the Anderlecht defence stood strong, packing their area. Zagreb only had one decent chance, and the visitors weren't able to create chances themselves. Coach Jacobs was therefore not happy.

The second half held more or less the same course. Dinamo Zagreb tried to do something, but Anderlecht never came into trouble. When Bernardez opened the score with a long range free kick, the visitors seemed to be freed. They started creating more chances and when Lukaku broke through on the wing, Legear finished off the counterattack and scored the winner: 0-2.
