Anderlecht and Gent divided the points yesterday evening after a 1-1 draw in the Vanden Stock Stadium. Mazuch scored his first goal for Anderlecht, but three minutes later Leye equalised.
Kouyaté can be added to the list of injured players after a head to head collision with Suler. Lukaku replaced De Sutter in the starting line-up and played a good game.
The home side started well, but the pace dropped when the young Kouyaté had to be replaced with a head injury after only seven minutes. Though the Mauves opened the score on a corner kick. Mazuch controlled the ball and scored with a nice shot. Three minutes later, Leye headed the equaliser against the nets, also on a corner kick.
Then the game took a different twist. Referee Bultynck refused to penalise Gent for a hands ball in the box. Boussoufa complained, and got yellow. That same Boussoufa was earlier pulled down while he was heading towards the keeper. Also that action remained unpunished. Though early in the second half, the Moroccan playmaker got a second yellow card after a tackle on the midfield. Van Damme got yellow for protesting.
There were no more real chances, but even with ten Anderlecht had control over the match. The home side was lucky though when a header came back from the upright after a Gent corner kick.
