Today Anderlecht got a late escape against defeat to Ajax, with Lukaku and Legear combining again, as they did two weeks ago at Zagreb, to hold the Dutch side to a 1-all stalemate at Constant Vanden Stock stadion.

Ajax dominated early proceedings, however De Zeeuw and Luis Suarez were wasteful in their chances created by precision passing. Anderlecht would have some chance halfway through the first half, Van Damme’s header over the bar. Stekelenburg won his duel with Lukaku before Van Damme missed another chance to register against his former club, flicking Matías Suárez's cutback past a post on the stroke of half-time.

As again in match day one, the introduction of substitutes breathed life into the game. In thr 58th minute, Anderlecht and Ajax introduced Legear and Rommedahl into the game, respectively. Rommedahl scored in the far post after a Luis Suarez cross, beating a lunging Van Damme and Proto's reflexes. Anderlecht 0-1 Ajax.

However a scuffle in the 83rd minute between Van Damme and De Zeuuw resulted in a red card for the former, and a yellow to the latter. This was not a hindrance to the Anderlecht attack however, as Lukaku received an aerial ball from Boussoufa, an proceeded to attempt a spectacular overhead bicycle kick. It was saved by Stekelenburg, but Legear was the quickest at the rebound, smashing it to the back of the net to make it 1-all.

It was not three points for Anderlecht, but it made sure les Mauves remained on top of Group A with four points from two games.
