Anderlecht to crack ten men Brugge in last second: 3-2

Anderlecht now have nine points more than Club Brugge. The Mauves beat the Brugians, down to ten men, in the very last second of the game thanks to a magnificent goal of Mbark Boussoufa: 3-2!


The visitors proved to be better in the first 15 minutes of the game. First, Proto had to save an effort of Geraerts, who had broken through. A few more chances followed, but after five minutes of play, Juhasz scored with a hard header: 1-0.

The Brugians kept playing at a very high pace and Anderlecht was pushed back. Ex-Anderlecht Vadis Odjidja equalised on a corner kick with a deflected effort: 1-1. From then on, Anderlecht slowly got stronger. They got more ball possession and pinned the visitors down in their own box. This didn't lead to many chances though. Therefore, the score at half time was 1-1.

The second half began with more Anderlecht pressure. But Club remained dangerous and Kouemaha brought them ahead again after a beautiful attack via Perisic: 1-2.

The turning point came a little later when Vargas, who had been on the field for only 7 minutes, was sent off after a hard tackle. The home side saw their chance and Ariel Jacobs replaced defender Deschacht for striker Frutos. And it paid off: the Argentinian pushed the ball, via the crossbar, against the net: 2-2.

At this point, Brugge couldn't even counter attack anymore and was pushed back far into their own box. Goalkeeper Stijnen saw nothing but dangerous centers and it rained chances. Though the fans had to wait until the last second to celebrate: Boussoufa dribbled and placed the ball in the goal from an impossible angle: 3-2!
