Anderlecht took an uncertain start, but slowly grew into the game thus paving the way for a deserved and well needed 3-0 victory over AEK Athens. With this victory, Anderlecht climbs next to AEK and Split in the ranking.

Anderlecht and AEK started carefully, with AEK having slightly more ball possession. The first small chances were for Anderlecht though via Kljestan, who made his debute in the Europa League, and Lukaku. Anderlecht grew and put high pressure on the Greek, crippling their offensive strength. But the home offensive was too slow and too weak to worry the visitors. Until Lukaku broke away on the wing... He opened for Kljestan whose shot was saved by the goalie. Luckily, Boussoufa was well followed. He scored the opening goal.

The Mauves got more self confidence and started to chase the ball down on the whole field. AEK panicked but survived until the break with minimal damage.

AEK moved forward in the second half, but couldn't worry the Belgian defence. Lukaku, who already had a good chance to double the lead, finally found the way to the goal. His effort from outside the box went in via the post.

From now on, the Belgian champions became dominant and created several more chances. Eventually Juhasz scored, flying through the air, with his heel. Despite some efforts, there was no fourth goal anymore.
