Anderlecht outclassed Club in 2nd half: 0-2

Anderlecht took over the lead in the Jupiler Pro League. The Belgian champions easily beat Club Brugge with 0-2. Lukaku and Boussoufa scored the goals in the second half.


Anderlecht, battered by injuries and suspensions, started with Wasikewski in the central defence as a replacement for the suspeded Mazuch. On the midfield, Kanu, Marecek and Kljestan formed a triangle. Polak was ill and Biglia not yet ready to play a complete game.

The home side started with a chance of Perisic. One minute later, Proto had to keep Geraerts from scoring. On the other side, Lukaku and Legear tried to create danger.

Quickly the game had to be stopped when Club Brugge "fans" started to throw snowballs at Anderlecht players. When play resumed, Brugge continued to create chances, but Dirar was unable to free himself in front of Proto. Slowly, Anderlecht became better and this resulted in an excellent chance for Lukaku, but Stijnen saved. A bit later, Legear was unable to score the opening goal. Brugge threatened Proto with a shot of Perisic and Geraerts also came close to scoring the 1-0. During that last phase, Hoefkens was pulled down in the box, but referee De Bleeckere didn't see a penalty in it.

The second half was different. Anderlecht immediately increased the pace and overrun the Brugian midfield. The pressure resulted in chances, but the home defence just managed to deal with it. But in the 58th minute, pressure became too high: Lukaku's third good effort of the game finally beat Stijnen: 0-1.

The Brugians seemed to reacted quickly: Kouemaha and Perisic take Proto under fire and a few minutes later, Wasilewski had to clear the equaliser from the line. Anderlecht felt the danger and increased the pace again. The home offensive collapsed and Stijnen had to save several efforts. Kljestan had the best chance to double the lead, but he aimed on the crossbar in front of an empty goal. Club Brugge was totally defeated and it was just a matter of time before the second goal fell. The space between the Brugian lines became very big, but Anderlecht only finished them off a few minutes before time via Boussoufa: 0-2.
