Anderlecht lost the title on Friday in Genk. The leader defeated Anderlecht with 1-0. Once again, Anderlecht had reasons to complain. Referee De Bleeckere did not see a hands-ball of Hubert in the box, minutes before the end...

The visitors took a good start and created several chances in just the first five minutes. Anderlecht had control over the game and developed a dominant style of play, but the goal suddenly fell on the other side: Vossen was given too much space and his effort from 25 meters went in.

Anderlecht lost control, but tried to do something about the scoreline though. But they were lucky that Proto wasn't sent off the field after first bringing Buffel down and later tackling Vossen in the box. That last action brought him a penalty, a yellow card and as was later determined ... a broken foot. Toszer missed the penalty and the score remained 1-0.

Veselinovic was close to equalising, but goalkeeper Courtois saved miraculously. Close to the end of the game, Hubert made a hands-ball in the box. As in almost every play-off game, the referee decided not to blow in the advantage of Anderlecht...

That way, the score remained 1-0. Anderlecht were knocked out of the race for the title. With Standard's victory over Club Brugge, the second place and the Champions League ticket will even become difficult to reach.
