Limassol beat Anderlecht 2-1

Anderlecht has suffered from its first defeat under new coach John van den Brom. The Mauves lost the first leg in the CL play off. The return leg will decide which team qualifies for the group stage. Everything's still possible.


John van den Brom made only one change in his starting eleven. Striker Tom De Sutter was put on the bench and replaced by Sacha Kljestan to re-enforce the midfield.

Anderlecht was surprised by the physical strength of AEL and was suppressed by the opponent. Even key players such as Biglia and Kouyaté showed signs of nervosity.

A 2-1 loss is no disaster, but Anderlecht will have to step up their game in the return leg, on the 28th in Brussels, if it wants to qualify for the group stage.
