Anderlecht defeated Cercle Bruges this weekend with 2-1 and remain leader in the Jupiler Pro League. The victory cost a lot of effort and was only accomplished minutes before the final whistle.
The game was overall not that good. The pace was low and Cercle defended well. Bakenga scored on a counter attack when he lifted the ball over Proto in the goal. The Mauves didn't create many chances and equalised on a penalty. Mbokani was pushed in the box and Biglia converted the penalty.
The home side kept looking for the winning goal and had to wait until one of the last minutes: Gillet scored with a header, but the referee had already blown for a foul. Another penalty was the result. Biglia missed, but Vargas scored in the rebound: 2-1.
