Anderlecht got eliminated from European football despite a 2-2 draw. The referee and his assistants decided the match by incorrectly flagging for offside when Anderlecht scored the 0-1. 20 seconds later, Malaga scored...

Malaga were better in the first 15 minutes with several good chances. Anderlecht had problems with the high pace but slowly adapted. The first good opportunity for Anderlecht came when Mbokani's effort was stopped on the line. Not much later Bruno's shot was also saved.

After already clearly favouring Malaga with several decisions, the tipping point of the game followed: Jovanovic wanted to open to Mbokani, who did not receive the ball and who was not offside at all. The linesman raised his flag when Safari scored the opening goal. A scandalous mistake of the assistant who clearly is not suited for the Champions League. But like always the 'larger' and 'richer' teams always get the advantage... Even worse is that Malaga scored the 1-0 in that same action. The UEFA, full of 'fair play', might want to consider actions against these kind of disasterous 'mistakes'.

The second half began with Jovanovic' equaliser. Mbokani rushed through the centered and Jovanovic concluded the action with a goal. Minutes later, Jovanovic also struck the upright. When Malaga scored the 2-1, Anderlecht seemed to be knocked out of the European scene since also Zenit were leading against Milan's reserves. Nonetheless, the Belgian side kept trying, kept attacking and one minute before the end Mbokani scored the 2-2. Anderlecht increased the pace and Mbokani came close to the winning goal, but his shot was saved.
