Anderlecht beat Waasland-Beveren yesterday with 1-2. The Mauves extend their lead on Zulte Waregem to 8 points. Kanu and Mbokani were each good for one goal and one assist.

The first half was weak and Waasland-Beveren, still in danger of relegating, defended and counter attacked fiercefully. Kanu and Mbokani had a good chance, but Remacle opened the score after 40 minutes. Kouyaté lost the ball, Remacle appeared in front of Proto and scored. Before the break, Anderlecht had one chance to equalise but goalkeeper Coosemans saved.

In the second half, Anderlecht dominated and created chances. Mbokani scored the 1-1 when he was sent deep and lifted the ball over Coosemans. Anderlecht kept looking for the winning goal and got it through Kanu a few minutes before the end.

In the last minute, Proto stopped D'Ulivo but got injured in the process. Referee Van de Velde stopped the play just before the rebound was scored. This caused a lot of commotion on the bench of the home side, but the referee took the right decision: Proto clearly stopped the ball (and not the player) and his finger got dislocated in the process... Final result: 1-2.
