Youth ready to take over Anderlecht

Only one important word during the press conference concerning the game against Lokeren tomorrow: youth. Here’s a review of all our talents.


For years now the fans have been complaining that not enough youth-players got their chance. Finally the youngsters have made it to the A-team. Last year Praet and Bruno were already introduced. Against Lokeren Mbemba Chancel will replace Cheikhou Kouyaté, who is suspended for two games.

Chancel Mbemba, who will be 19 on August 8th signed his contract at Anderlecht in August last year. Already then they saw him as a great talent.
Another possibility was Leander Dendoncker (18), also called the new Glen De Boeck. He got some minutes last week during the Supercup His assets: vista, passing and strong in contact with other players. Leander signed his contract in 2012..


Michaël Heylen (19) also is an upcoming talent. however it’s a small miracle he made it to Anderlecht’s A-team. At the age of 16 he got Chrome’s disease, but Heylen recovered because of his determination and the support of the club.

Youri Tielemans, only 16, is one of the youngest. He compares himself to Axel Witsel and Romelu Lukaku is his idol. He has been a part of Anderlecht since the age of 5.

Oswal Alvarez, 18, signed his contract in april 2012. In Colombia he is seen as a wonderchild. Several European topclubs (Chelsea, Sporting Lissabon) tried to convince him to come and play for their club, but Alvarez chose Anderlecht.
