Draw against nine men Standard

Yesterday Anderlecht did not display good football against Standard. The match started with an early goal of Kljestan and quickly evolved into a dirty match, like always against Standard. Ezekiel equalised. Standard ended with 9.


Deschacht took his place in the team again. Nuytinck started on the bench. Due to the heavy injury of Suarez, Acheampong returned in the team.

Kljestan scored after 43 seconds of play, on a corner kick. Anderlecht had control over the match for the next 20 minutes with some scarce opportunities. But then Standard took over. Mbemba Mujangi Bia was brought down in the box, but Nzolo did not give the obvious penalty. Ezekiel scored not much later with a header when Milivojevic failed to stop the Standard counter attack on the midfield.

The further the game went, the dirtier it became. Standard, with their known physical play, ended the game with nine players. Opare and Vainqueur got red. Gillet was brought to the hospital with a nasty flesh wound.

The best chance was for Ciman, whose header missed the target for about 5cm. Anderlecht couldn't find any openings, not even against nine men. It did not have any serious chances anymore...
