Anderlecht take one point in Westerlo after come-back

Anderlecht lost the first points of the season. The game against Westerlo ended on a 2-2 draw. Anderlecht created more than enough chances to win the game, yet they were trailing 2-0 at half time.


Anderlecht started with Leander Dendoncker instead of Milivojevic and the youngster did a good job. In the first 15 minutes, the visitors were able to create several good chances to open the score, but the opportunities went lost. Things became a lot more complicated when Mbemba headed the ball in his own goal. Anderlecht started doubting and the pace dropped. The situation became more dire when Geudens scored 2-0 right before half-time.

During the break, coach Hasi brought Suarez into the team and this resulted in a lot of offensive power at the start of the second half. Soon, a nice combination over the wing resulted in a goal of Cyriac: 2-1. Anderlecht pushed the home side into defensive positions and got a penalty 15 minutes later after a hands-ball. Tielemans equalised on penalty: 2-2.

Everyone expected a final push to secure the victory, but Anderlecht had used a lot of their energy. The game ended in a draw.
