Anderlecht lost two points in Lierse mainly thanks to the referee. The Mauves scored four goals, but only two were validated. For the other two, the linesman had incorrectly flagged for offside.

Anderlecht started well with Najar almost immediately scoring the first goal, but the linesman made his first blunder of the day by flagging for offside. The Belgain champions dominated most of the first half without creating a lot of danger though. Lierse slowly restored the balance in the match and Wanderson openend the scoreline right before half time with a good effort: 1-0.

Hasi changed Tielemans and Colin for Suarez and Conté and that last signed for his first assist after 47 minutes of play: Acheampong scored. This was the starting sign for Anderlecht to launch an offensive. The Brussels' club created chance after chance, but the ball just didn't want to go in. The Lierse goalie made a handful of excellent safes and was helped by the crossbar and the linesman once more. Acheampong scored his second of the evening, but he was again incorrectly flagged for offside. In the last few minutes, Cyriac gave Anderlecht what they deserved: 1-2. But five minutes of stoppage time allowed Lierse to equalise in the very last seconds via a header: 2-2.
