Arsenal's lucky win knocks Anderlecht out of the race for the second place in the champions League group. Up until minute 88, the home team was leading 1-0. But in the last few minutes, the Gunners scored twice...

The first half was closed with just a few small chances on both sides. None of the two teams managed to break through or take control over the match. A 0-0 score at halftime was a logical result.

The second half was different. Anderlecht started well and immediately tested the Arsenal goalie. The Gunners responded but the Belgian champions could count a good Proto to keep the nil. Slowly but surely Arsenal took control and increased the pressure, but Anderlecht had waited for the correct moment to strike on a counter attack: Praet broke free from two defenders and centered for Najar who headed the 1-0 against the net.

Arsenal seemed to be knocked out and Anderlecht deserved another goal: Vanden Borre appeared alone in front of the keeper, but his effort hit the crossbar. Defour's hard effort was stopped by keeper Martinez and Suarez, all alone in scoring position, missed his control. Arsenal escaped with some luck and even scored in minute 88 via Gibbs. In stoppage time, Arsenal reclaimed (with a handsball but not seen by the referee) the ball from Defour. After a few deviations, it ended up in Podolski's feet who showed no mercy: 1-2. The anti-climax was complete; the best team lost.
