Roger Vanden Stock was not happy with the comments on his team in the news. "Did you guys expect we were going to win in Spain or what? You are all too critical!" he reacted.

"The bookmakers put us 250 against 1. Only Rosenborg and Maccabi Tel Aviv score worse. But what do you expect when you have to play a team like Valencia?"

Olivier Deschacht did not agree that Anderlecht played bad.

"We caused some trouble in their defense now and then", said the defender. "And Zitka didn't have to save much either. We just had bad luck."
But he also admitted that Anderlecht should have shown more. "Next time we'll have to try more. And we will, because the next game is a home game."

Hugo Broos wasn't that unhappy with the team's prestations.

"We didn't show enough", the Anderlecht-trainer said. "Everything went wrong. Some players didn't reach their best level and Valencia were just better. But is was better than in Lyon last year I think. And some young players, like Vanden Borre, played an excellent game."
