Anderlecht beat Cercle: 1-3

Anderlecht have beaten Cercle Brugge with a 1-3 score. Nenad Jestrovic scored twice, Aruna once. That way, Jestrovic is the best striker in Belgium, if Lange (Brugge) doesn't score tonight against Genk.


The game started well for the Mauves when the Cercle defense was caught napping. Aruna slipped through on a pass of Zetterberg and scored the opening goal: 0-1. Cercle couldn't react and Anderlecht got a bunch of new chances. Though it took until right before half time before Jestrovic could double the lead: 0-2.

The second half started like the first, with an early goal. Aruna was stopped inaccurately in the box and Jestrovic brought Anderlecht 3 goals up from a penalty: 0-3.

Cercle scored immediatly after that on a corner kick when a ball deviated on Tihinen's foot. The Brugians tried to come closer, but the Belgian champions had the game under control.

RSCA even tried to extend their lead. Wilhelmsson broke through the defense, but was stopped with a good sliding tackle.
So the score stayed 1-3, which is more like a little miracle since Jestrovic missed before an empty goal after a nice action of Wilhelmsson at 5 minutes of the final whistle.
