FLASHBACK On September 28, 1966, Anderlecht easily secured their place in the round of 16 of the European Cup I. At home, they won 2-0 against a Finnish team: Haka. Nothing special, if it weren't for the fact that the Mauves played with the handbrake on, since they had already won the first leg by an astonishing 10-1.
In Finland, RSCA even fell behind 1-0, but then scored 10 times.
Van Himst especially had a liking for Finnish soil: he netted five goals there. Devrindt scored a hat-trick, while Puis and Cayuela took care of the rest. In the home match, Van Himst and Devrindt shared both goals. All in all, a historic monster score of 12-1 was recorded on the scoreboard.
