Anderlecht coach Franky Vercauteren is working hard on a solid team. After a few weeks, he makes an analysis: "I am satisfied", says Vercauteren.

"Everything is going well at the moment. The results are good, and we are both mentally and physically strong. They show dedication, so they are ambitious."

Anderlecht are playing in the second preliminary round of the Champions League next week. "I don't think we are ready for it. But even if we don't play at 100%, it should turn out well."

It's no problem to Vercauteren that some transfers were quite late. "Proto and Goor don't need a long time to get used to the team, and we know what to expect from them", he said.

And what about Serhat, the new striker? "He has to find the right balance. He wanted to proove himself, but he has mental and physical problems now. But he can be a very important player to us. They aren't all as strong as Kompany, but we have a stronger team. The squad is even a bit too large, maybe some players might leave."

Franky Vercauteren knows that Anderlecht hasn't got many defenders. "If things go wrong, we might have some problems. We have to look for some central defenders, even on a short term. But we are going for the title with this group. Club Bruges is a big competitor, but also some other teams did some good transfers. The start of the season will be important."

"I expect that Anderlecht will play with team spirit, every game. A solid team: that is the most important thing. And we are working on it."
