The English team Chelsea would make an offer for Vincent Kompany during the mid-season transfer window in January. They would be prepared to offer 14 million pounds, that is more than 20 million euros.

Blues-boss Jose Mourinho is keen on the young international centre-back. Anderlecht officials spoke with their Blues counterparts during the sides' Champions League clash on Tuesday.

Anderlecht managing director Herman van Holsbeeck said: "I know Chelsea are interested in Vincent, and maybe a deal can be done for him. I've advised Roman Abramovich to keep a special eye on him. They say Chelsea are the richest club in the world, and now I have seen it for myself."
