The fans had prepared a heartwarming goodbye for Pär Zetterberg, and he really appreciated that. "A footballer can only dream about an end like that. It was the best moment of my career," Zetterberg said.

"Because someone had said something they were not supposed to say, I knew that my father and my son would kick off the game. But I did not know what was going to happen. When I saw them kick off the game, the tears kept coming. I was really emotional, from the first until the last minute," he said.

"When the whole stadium was coloured yellow and blue it really touched me. I really have to thank the fans for everything they have done during the season. I did not want to be replaced, I wanted to stand there for more then 2 hours in such an atmoshpere. It was fantastic. If I want to play for one more season? No, this was the last one."
