Anderlecht reclaim the pole position with an easy victory over Beveren. Anderlecht won by an impressive 8-1. Genk had put the pressure on Anderlecht but the Mauves showed they can handle that kind of pressure well.

Beveren were missing goalkeeper Copa (suspension) and their top striker Gervinho (injury). Wasilewski returned to the Anderlecht starting line-up. Mark De Man was rested.

Anderlecht were hoping to repeat last week’s scenario and score early into the game. And succeeded in doing so! A minute into the game, Hassan found Boussoufa, who had the time to center. Frutos slided the ball past Giacomi to score his thirteenth league goal of the season.

Anderlecht were eager to score a second goal and created a number of chances. Biglia, Legear and Hassan had efforts on goal but all attempts were blocked by the young Beveren goalkeeper, albeit not without difficulty. Fifteen minutes into the game Anderlecht came close to 2-0. A Juhasz header found the crossbar.

The Mauves did not maintain their dominance throughout the first half and Beveren claimed possession of the ball. The club from East Flanders did not succeed in creating major chances, however. On the contrary, it was Anderlecht that managed to score another goal. Hassan centered the ball perfectly for Boussoufa to head the ball into the netting.

A minute before half-time, Anderlecht secured the victory. Again the goal was a result of a combination between Hassan and Boussoufa. Hassan won the ball and passed to the unmarked Boussoufa. The Moroccon international scored his second goal of the match with a beautiful shot.

The fans saw an eager Anderlecht in the second half that was looking to increase its goal count. The strategy paid off after five minutes. First Legear forced Giacomi to a save, but it was the inevitable Boussoufa who scored his third goal of the game: 4-0.

The score allowed Vercauteren to make some early substitutions. Mbokani, Tioté and Baseggio were brought into the game. Beveren had not managed to threaten Zitka yet. The Anderlecht goalkeeper did well to block a shot from Tokpa in the 70th minute. However, Beveren did succeed in scoring an honorary goal. Seka defeated Zitka with a beautiful free kick.

Anderlecht were undaunted, however, and easily increased the score. First Mbokani scored his second goal in two games, next Hassan scored from the penalty spot after being brought down. Minutes later it was again Mbokani who scored. The youngster headed a Wasilewski center past Giacomi. The striker was still unsatisfied and went on to score a hattrick and put the score to 8-1! What some might have called a difficult game against a side which was facing relegation turned out to be a mere walk in the park.
