"Dismissal was the only option"

Commentator and analyst Peter Vandenbempt gave his view on Frank Vercauteren's dismissal yesterday. "After the last crisis things went from bad to worse. At some point a dismissal had become the only possible option," he claims.


"Vercauteren's position was in doubt at three moments the past years. Each time the board stood behind its coach and things changed for the better. But after last month a dismassal had become inevitable."

"Few Anderlecht coaches receive the unconditional support of its fans. The last ones were Johan Boskamp and Jean Dockx. Antheunis, Broos and Vercauteren were less appreciated despite booking succes," explains Vandenbempt.
