The news of Frank Vercauteren's dismissal as head coach yesterday had just been confirmed when speculation started about a potential successor. However, Anderlecht confirmed that assistant coach Jacobs will finish the season.

Secretary-general Phillipe Collin is rumoured to have dropped the name of current Lokeren coach George Leekens. A decision the other members of the Anderlecht board did not agree with. Leekens has held the position of Anderlecht coach in the past without much success.

Another name that has been circulating is Morten Olsen. The current national coach of Denmark is a former player of the Brussels club, still tracks the club and lives in Belgium. Manager Van Holsbeeck would prefer a foreign coach claim certain sources.
