Friday's game against the rivals of Standard will mean the first league match for Ariël Jacobs as Anderlecht coach. "We need a victory to close in on our rivals," said Jacobs.

If Standard would win, Anderlecht would lag nine points behind them. "I'm not taking a loss into account. Standard have done better thus far, that's the way it is. A victory would bring us close behind."

"Each game is important. Look at our games against Dender and Zulte Waregem. Without a loss of points there this would be a more ordinary game. In other important games such as the ones against Genk and Rapid Wien we stood our ground."
