Anderlecht draw Bordeaux in UEFA Cup

Today in Nyon the draw took place for the 16th finals of the UEFA Cup. Anderlecht was paired with French club Bordeaux. The first leg will be played on February 13 or 14. The return will take place a week later.


The draw fulfills the wishes of manager Herman Van Holsbeeck and chairman Roger Vanden Stock. Both were hoping to face the French club. That way the club evaded a pairing with top teams such as Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid or Villarreal.

Automatically, the draw for 8th finals was also decided. If Anderlecht make it past Bordeaux it will face the winner of Aberdeen v Bayern Munich.
