Anderlecht manager Herman Van Holsbeeck expressed his satsifaction after the club drew Girondins de Bordeaux in the 16th finals of the UEFA Cup. "With Bordeaux we got the team we were hoping for," said the manager.

"We could've drawn more difficult teams. We're lucky to evade them," explained Van Holsbeeck. Although the French team is not to be underestimated. "They've won all their group games which tells something about their strength."

"Perhaps their squad doesn't contain a lot of big names, but they are a strong collective. There is a reason that they're currently holding the third position in the French league."

Anderlecht crossed paths in the UEFA Cup with Bordeaux in 2002. It was the Brussels club who took the victory back then. "We keep a fond memory of playing against Bordeaux and it will prove to be a beautiful duel."
