Anderlecht presented Stanislav Vlcek to the press. It is expected that the Czech striker helps the club out of its current predicament. "I know that a lot is expected of me but I know what pressure is," said Vlcek.

"Slavia Prague is also a big club and I'm convinced I have what it takes," assured the 31-year-old striker.

Secretary-general Philippe Collin is convinced the player's age is an asset. "We needed someone with experience, someone we could use right from the start. A younger player always needs some time adapting and at the moment we don't have time for that," explained Collin.

The club followed the performance of Vlcek for three years. Anderlecht discovered the player when facing Slavia Prague in the Champions League preliminary round. "After that we saw him about five times. We know exactly what his qualities are," said Collin.

"His biggest quality is his mentality. He is a hard worker, but rest assured: he knows how to play football. He is a constant trouble for the defense and makes space for other players."

Vlcek played 102 games for Slavia Prague in which he scored 38 times.
