Van Damme: "Micoud made me more mature"

Jelle Van Damme en Johan Micoud know each other from when they both played at Bundesliga club Werder Bremen. "Johan made me more mature in many ways" so says Van Damme. The 2 players still phone each other weekly.


"It immedeatly clicked " so says Van Damme in the Belgian paper "Het Laatste Nieuws". "German clubs want all their players to speak German, but Johan didn't understand mutch of it. With me, he was able to speak French. We both liked to play tricks on our teammates."

"If I have one friend in professional footbal, it's him. I have learned a lot from him as a human being and as a footbalplayer. I still play with his legprotectors, with his autograph on it."
