RSC Anderlecht played a good first leg against a weak Bordeaux side and won the game in the dying seconds. Bordeaux came ahead thanks to a penalty, but Polak and Mpenza made sure that Anderlecht won deservedly.

Anderlecht started well and tried to play offensively. It had a couple of small chances, but Bordeaux played well-organized, and that resulted in a mediocre 30 minutes. The last 10 minutes of the first half however, Anderlecht had their best chance, but Jan Polak lifted the ball just over the bar, after a good assist from man of the match Mbark boussoufa. Bordeaux also had a good chance on the counter, but Obertan's shot went just wide.

The second half started with Anderlecht searching for a goal. Akin came inches short after a pass from Chatelle, but after a slip from Pareja and a tackle from Roland Juhasz, the referee awarded a penalty to the French team. Jussiê did not squander the opportunity.

The Mauves immediatly looked for the equaliser, and pressed on. The home team got what it was looking for when the 11th corner was insufficantly cleared. Jan Polak took the ball on his right foot, and it swerved past Ramé. It truly was a great goal from Polak, who played a very good match.

The last 10 minutes, a few players seemed tired, and it was Bordeaux who seemed most threatening, but with no real danger for Daniel Zitka. The winning goal fell on the other end, however. Boussoufa and Biglia regained the ball just on the half of Bordeaux, and the substituted Legear delivered a good center. Mbo Mpenza, who replaced Bart goor in the 70th minute, pounced upon a Diawara error, and placed it behind the wrong-footed Ramé.

Anderlecht got what it deserved in the dying seconds, but still have the hard task of holding off Bordeaux in their home stadium next Thursday.
