Anderlecht beat Qarabag and advance

GAMES Anderlecht qualifed for the next stage of the Europa League. The Mauves were certain of a place in the next round with a victory over Qarabag. A draw was good as well in case Monaco didn't win in Tottenham. But Anderlecht finished the job themselves by beating Qarabag.

Anderlecht immediately showed their intentions and moved forward from the kick-off on. The Mauves dominated and created a few chances. But the opening goal fell on the other side after a fast counter attack. Proto was beaten on a shot from outside the box. RSCA responded immediately though. Two minutes later, Najar was sent deep through the visiting defence and he scored with some help of the post: 1-1. A furious Anderlecht was not satisfied at all, even though at that time Monaco was already two goals behind in the other game. Qarabag immediately lost the ball after the kick-off. Okaka was able to hold off two defenders and scored with a shot from just outside the box, again via the post: 2-1.

Qarabag didn't play a bad game, but did not have enough quality to really endanger Anderlecht's defence. The only one who managed to create a chance now and then was Armenteros, ex-Anderlecht striker. 

The game became boring to watch in the second half, with the Belgians controlling the match and leaving the ball to Qarabag that wasn't able to do anything with it. Armenteros was stopped once by Proto, but goalkeeper remained unemployed for the rest of the second half. The Mauves from their side were satisfied with the result and only had a handful of small chances after the break. That way the match ended on a 2-1 victory.

Tottenham advances alongside with Anderlecht. The English won with 4-1 against Monaco and win the group. Anderlecht ended second.
