GAMES Anderlecht qualified for the next Europa League round after beating Olympiakos and referee Hunter tonight. The Mauves were put at a disadvantage by the referee for three times, but prevailed in extra time: 1-2!

The game should have started well for Anderlecht when Acheampong, broken through, was pulled down. A red card would have been logical, but referee Hunter even gave the advantage to Olympiakos. The home side responded and forced Proto to three excellent saves. For about ten minutes, RSCA had difficulties to survive the Greek pressure. Slowly but surely the Brussels' team turned the tide and restored the balance in the match. This was the sign for referee Hunter to help the home side a bit more: Badji controled the ball with his thigh and chest, but Hunter put the ball on the penalty spot for imaginary hands. Fortounis accepted the gift and scored: 1-0. Both teams decided to lower the pace now: Olympiakos had what it wanted and Anderlecht decided to limit the damage for now.

The second half was exciting, with Anderlecht becoming better with every passing minute. Djuricic stormed towards goalkeeper Roberto and was torpedoed by the last man, Botia. Again Hunter did not draw his red card and disadvantaged the Belgians for the third time. Such an unacceptable and terrible performance has not been seen on the European football fields since the 80s...

The Mauves didn't give up though. Proto saved the Brussels' team once more, but Najar was closer to a goal on the other side: his shot was stopped by the post. Olympiakos sank deeper and deeper and Anderlecht understood they had a chance. But scoring didn't happen until extra time when Acheampong placed the ball over the goalkeeper into the goal. That same Acheampong even gave Anderlecht a victory when he scored his second goal of the evening a few minutes later: 1-2 after extra time!
