GAMES The European story of Anderlecht in the Europe League seems to end in the 1/8th finals this season. Shakhtar obtained an easy 3-1 victory against the Mauves yesterday, and the Ukrainian side was clearly too strong for Anderlecht

Shakhtar started off slowly against Anderlecht and the Mauves had a couple of scoring opportunities. However, after twenty minutes Donetsk raised the pace and they were able to score twice in a couple of minutes' time. It was clear Anderlecht were having a hard time and suffered under the pressure of the Ukrainian side.

Anderlecht were better in the second half and had several chances. The Mauves were refused a clear penalty by the referee, and Hasi brought in two new players. Ibrahima Conté came on the pitch and he immediately gave the assist for the fourth goal of Frank Acheampong in this Europe League campaign.

Anderlecht believed in the equalizer, but Eduardo took away all hope for the Mauves. Final score: 3-1, and qualification seems to be far away for Anderlecht.
