GAMES Anderlecht failed to qualify against Shakhtar Donetsk. In a match with only few scoring opportunities a 0-0 draw seemed to be a logical result, but Donetsk scored the winner in the extra time. Final score: 0-1 and Anderlecht eliminated from the Europe League.

Anderlecht played very offensive but Shakhtar never had problems with the Mauves. The referee also helped Shakhtar Donetsk a hand: Steven Defour first received a yellow card after a discussion about a free kick, and Kara Mbodj's goal was ruled out after a minor foul on a Shakhtar defender.

Also in the second half Anderlecht tried to put some pressure, but Donetsk were not impressed. The referee once again could have whistled a penalty kick in Anderlecht's favor, but refused to do so. The match was about to end when Eduardo scored the winner for Shakhtar, which didn't matter anymore.
