Seven goals in Mechelen-Anderlecht: 3-4

GAMES Anderlecht beat KV Mechelen on Friday, for the first time in five years, with 3-4. It was coach Vanhaezebrouck's debut. Anderlecht played a good first half, but collapsed in the second half. Though the 4 goals scored in the first 45 minutes were sufficient to win.

Anderlecht started with Kums in the team. Boeckx took his place in the goal. Dendoncker was placed in the central defense. After a doubting start, Anderlecht took control over the game and rapidly created several open chances. It was youngster Gerkens who opened the score after a nice attack. Onyekuru scored two more and Teodorczyk made the fourth. Only Schoofs was able to score one goal for KV Mechelen with a deviated shot.

The second half was totally different. Despite two open chances for Anderlecht, KV Mechelen controlled with creating any serious chance. Though Pedersen was able to take one back with a header. Anderlecht never came into trouble up until extra time when Bandé scored with a shot. Mechelen didn't come closer though and Anderlecht won: 3-4.
