GAMES Anderlecht booked their first victory at home under coach Vanhaezebrouck. The Mauves beat Zulte Waregem with 2-0 at home thanks to Pieter Gerkens and Hamdi Harbaoui. Matz Sels stopped a penalty in the second half.

Anderlecht did not play an impressive first half but was the better team though. Teodorczyk had a great opportunity: Stanciu centered, but the Polish striker missed from two meters in front of an open goal. Onyekuru should also have scored at the end of the first half when he appeared alone in front of Bostyn, but the goalie saved his effort.

The second half was exciting: Olayinka had the first good chance for the visitors after 60 minutes with a header. Not much later, Appiah almost scored with a deviated shot and Teodorczyk's rebound was cleared from the line. A minute later, Hanni's shot went over.

On the other side, De Pauw was brought down in the box by Trebel. Referee Wouters gave a penalty; a harsh decision, but luckly goalkeeper Sels saved the penalty and the rebound. Coach Vanhaezebrouck saw the quality declining and brought Gerkens en Harbaoui into play. These replacements were successful: Gerkens immediately scored with a header and three minutes later Harbaoui headed the 2-0 into the goal.

Because of the defeat of Bruges, Anderlecht now closed in on the leader and are nine points behind.
